Sonia has successfully combined a legal career alongside her work as a writer. She developed her first play, Behna, as part of Kali’s ‘Giving Voice’ Festival (Soho Theatre) and it went on to be performed and later toured as a site-specific production in association with Birmingham Rep and Black Country Touring. She was Artist in Residence with Tamasha Theatre Company (2007/8) and has worked under commission with Rifco Arts (‘Where’s my Desi Soulmate?’) Birmingham Rep (Bazaar), the BBC (‘Silver Street; Snapshots; Resolutions; Ek Awaaz) and CBBC (Planet Ajay)
