Satinder Chohan is a journalist and documentary researcher/assistant producer turned playwright from Southall, West London. Her plays include Zameen (Kali Theatre UK tour), KabaddiKabaddiKabaddi (Pursued By A Bear/Kali), 1984 (Vibrant Festival, Finborough Theatre), Half of Me (Lyric Hammersmith/Made in India tour) and Lotus Beauty, currently in development with Hampstead Theatre. She received OffWestEnd.com’s 2013 Adopt A Playwright Award to develop Made in India (Tamasha Theatre, UK tour), which received the 2017 ACTA Award for Best Production. Recent work includes audio dramas Steam Rises for Tamasha/The National Archives and The Girl of Ink and Stars for Spark Arts, for whom she is also working on Secret Stories, with local families in Leicester. She is currently developing her play Empire of the Mind (Kali Theatre) for the Sphinx 30 initiative (Sphinx Theatre), short film Bussing and Pind, a novel about the Punjabi diaspora.
